Infection Control

The Infection Control Team and the staff at SBGHC want to protect patients from hospital acquired infectious diseases; we do this through the implementation of evidence based practices as set out by Provincial Infectious Diseases Advisory Committee.

A hospital acquired infection sometimes happens when a patient is admitted to the hospital. SBGHC's Infection Control Team tracks the rates of these acquired infections such as Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Vancomycin Resistant Enterococcus (VRE) or Clostridium Difficile Associated Disease (C. difficile). To view the rates, click on the link below.

Information for Patients and Families

If you are visiting or receiving a treatment, remember to wash your hands when you enter and leave the hospital.
Follow the isolation signs posted on the patient's room you are visiting.
If you have any questions about the isolation signs ask the hospital staff to explain it to you.
What are we doing to prevent hospital acquired infection?
We work with staff, volunteers, visitors and patients to minimize hospital acquired infection to control the spread of these infections by:

  • Hand washing
