On August 17th, 2021, the Province of Ontario Chief Medical Officer of Health issued Directive #6, which outlines requirements for healthcare worker vaccination policies.
The Directive states that health care organizations must have a vaccination policy in place by September 7th, 2021 that requires, at a minimum, individuals to provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 or written proof of a medical reason for not being vaccinated against COVID-19. At the current time, people not vaccinated will be required to submit to regular point of care testing for COVID-19 and demonstrate a negative result, at intervals to be determined by the hospital, which must be at minimum once every seven days, and must complete a COVID-19 vaccination educational session.
In accordance with the Directive, and to continue to support a safe care environment and a safe work environment, SBGHC implemented a COVID-19 Vaccine Policy on September 7th, 2021.
Please note that SBGHC’s COVID-19 Vaccination Policy also requires that moving forward, all contractors and lessees working within SBGHC’s hospital sites are responsible for ensuring their employees’ vaccination status is aligned with SBGHC requirements.
