Physician Recruitment

South Bruce Grey Health Centre, with sites in Chesley, Durham, Walkerton and Kincardine, serves a catchment area consisting of approximately 44,000 residents with an additional 10,000 seasonal residents and 30,000 tourists who visit the area each year. The Health Centre employs over 400 people across the four sites, which cumulatively have 85 patient beds.

Each facility serves the residents from its surrounding area and in addition, interacts with external partners to deliver high quality care in South Bruce Grey. Each site has 24-hour emergency service with locum coverage assistance to provide service for the over 45,000 unscheduled emergency visits. We provide a full compliment of diagnostic and therapeutic services for a Family Medicine Practitioner – general surgery, laboratory, radiology, bone densitometry, CT scanning, dietician, diabetic counseling, cardio-respiratory, obstetrics, palliative care, physiotherapy, breast screening programs and day away programs. Our consultant clinics are expanding, we currently have site access to the cardiology, dental, dermatology, ENT, geriatric, internal medicine, mental health, orthopedic, pediatric, rheumatology and urology disciplines.

From the heart of Saugeen country in Durham to the sandy beaches of Kincardine there are a variety of recreational pursuits to enjoy. A balanced professional and personal lifestyle is easily attainable in any of our communities. We boast a variety of art galleries, museums, theatres, music and light festivals. We are close to Owen Sound, known as the fern capital of Ontario. Close to thirty varieties of ferns and many of the forty species of orchids indigenous to Ontario can be found in the area. There are nine designated bike routes in the Huron Shoreline area, ranging from 8 to 100 kms. The many lakes and river systems in our area lend themselves to canoeing and kayaking experiences for all experience levels. Each Saturday evening in Kincardine throughout the summer, as they have for more than fifty years, local pipe bands play. And on most sunny summer evenings except Saturday a lone piper can be heard from the lighthouse commemorating the legend of a piper in 1856 who’s playing, guided a lost boat to safety. In Walkerton, always worth a visit, are the Heritage Jubilee Hall and the Opera House Theatre.

Our community partnerships are many and include South West, Primary Mental Health Unit, Meals on Wheels, Helpline, Sexual Health Clinic, Lactation Consultants, Regional Pain and Symptom Control program.
