How do I access this service?
A physician referral is required. Your referral will be sent directly to the DI department and an appointment will be scheduled. The physician who requested your CT scan will contact you regarding your appointment time and any preparation required.
Wait Times
The wait time for a CT scan at South Bruce Grey Health Centre is well under the provincial average. Visit the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care’s website to view the approximate wait time: Ontario Wait Times
Preparation:
Fast 4 hours prior to exam;
Some patients feel nauseous during the injection, therefore, we recommend that you have nothing to eat or drink for 4 hours prior to your scan if you are having an injection of intravenous contrast material.
Continue to take medications;
Please take all medication on the day of your exam with a small sip of water.
Oral Contrast/Drink prior to exam;
Most abdominal scans require the patient to drink a contrast mixture. This mixture is flavored and not at all unpleasant. Oral contrast highlights the stomach and upper intestine providing the radiologist with a detailed image for review. If you are scheduled for a CT scan requiring oral contrast, you will be asked to arrive one hour before the scan time.
Where do I register for my appointment?
Please present at Central Registration upon arrival at the hospital. You will then be directed to the location of your appointment.
