Surgical Services

You will be provided with a Pre-Anesthetic Questionnaire during your pre-op appointment. Please fill this in and bring it with you on the day of your surgery.

You will be provided with instructions for how to prepare for your surgery during your pre-op appointment.

On the day of your surgery, please do not wear jewelry (including earrings), hair accessories, nail polish or contact lenses.

Please have a ride home arranged and ready for pickup following your procedure, along with a contact number in case we need to reach them.

Supervision is required with sedation or general anesthesia for 24 hours after your procedure.

If you develop cold or flu-like symptoms before your procedure, contact your Surgeon or call the hospital.

Enter the hospital through the Emergency Department entrance and visit Patient Registration upon arrival. Please have your health card ready.

The Day Surgery department is located on Level 1.  Please take the stairs or elevator from the Lower Level (Patient Registration) and follow the signs for Day Surgery.

Once in Day Surgery, a nurse will review your chart and prepare you for surgery. If you have any questions, please ask! Our team of health care providers are here to make sure you are comfortable and prepared for your procedure.

The surgeon and/or anesthetist will review any pre-surgical information/answer any questions before your procedure.

You will recover in SBGHC’s Recovery Unit and all post-surgical care/instructions will be provided prior to discharge.

We strive to remain on schedule, however, urgent cases may cause a delay. The nursing team will communicate any delays on the day of surgery.
