New Appointment to SBGHC Board of Directors

July 15, 2022 – South Bruce Grey Health Centre (SBGHC) appointed a new member to the hospital’s Board of Directors at its Annual Meeting held on June 29th.

Chris Oberle was appointed to fill one of three vacant positions on the Board. Chris brings extensive experience in legal and governance, is a former Municipality of Brockton Councilor, and currently a prosecutor for the City of Toronto.

SBGHC’s Board of Directors are a skills-based, dedicated, and passionate group of volunteers that are committed to ensuring four strong viable hospital sites are maintained in our communities.

Current areas of need relating to knowledge and skill on SBGHC’s Board are Health Care Administration & Policy, Information Technology, Legal, Patient & Health Care Advocacy and Policy Acumen.

This year’s recruitment cycle to appoint new members at the Annual Meeting included advertising in local newspapers, social media posts, and sending targeted letters to the leaders of 51 local businesses, half of those being in the Brockton area, as SBGHC did not have a Director from the Municipality of Brockton. Six applications were received during this cycle, and all six candidates were interviewed.

“We are very pleased to welcome Chris to our Board of Directors,” says Bill Heikkila, SBGHC Board Chair. “His professional experience and desire to contribute to the betterment of health care in our communities will be a valuable addition to our governance team.”

Applications will be accepted for membership on the Board of Directors at any time. Please email mcurry@sbghc.on.ca to request an expression of interest package.
