SBGHC to Resume Non-emergent and Non-urgent Procedures Following Release of Modified Provincial Directive
On January 5th, 2022, all hospitals across the province were instructed by the Ontario Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) to pause all non-emergent and non-urgent surgeries and procedures in order to preserve critical care and human resource capacity across the Ontario health care system. The purpose of Directive #2 was to allow staff to be redeployed from one area of the hospital to another to support essential health services to patients during this latest wave of COVID-19 infections.
On February 1st, the CMOH released a modified provincial Directive allowing for the gradual resumption of these non-urgent or non-emergent clinical activities in areas where system capacity appears to be secure, or where there is limited redeployment opportunity. The revisions to the Directive relating to non-emergent surgeries is limited to pediatric surgeries only at this time.
As a result of the modified Directive, South Bruce Grey Health Centre (SBGHC) will resume non-emergent and non-urgent laboratory, diagnostic imaging and cardiorespiratory procedures at full capacity by Tuesday, February 8th.
Additional appointments have been added to SBGHC’s Community Lab Collection booking system beginning Monday, February 7th.
