Temporary Emergency Department (ED) Closures: Walkerton hospital – Overnight Closures September 16 & September 17. Chesley hospital – 24h Closure, September 18th
Due to critical health human resources shortages, SBGHC will be closing the Walkerton and Chesley Emergency Departments this weekend as follows:
The Chesley ED will be closed from:
- 5:00pm on Saturday, September 17th to 7:00am on Monday, September 19th
The Walkerton ED will be closed from:
- 5:00pm on Friday, September 16th to 7:00am on Saturday, September 17th
- 5:00pm on Saturday, September 17th to 7:00am on Sunday, September 18th
All efforts to find staffing for the Emergency Department have been undertaken without success.
Ambulance by-pass will divert patients to the nearest open ED.
Anyone requiring immediate medical attention should call 911 to be taken to the nearest Emergency Department. For non-urgent health care needs, Health Connect Ontario is available 24/7 for non-emergency health-related questions by calling 811.
