Welcome Dr. Ellen Lorenzen!

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Ellen Lorenzen as a new member of the SBGHC Physician Team.

Dr. Lorenzen recently completed a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine, following the completion of a three-year Family Medicine Residency at the University of Alabama. Throughout her residency program, Dr. Lorenzen was appointed Chief Resident Physician in 2021-22. Dr. Lorenzen’s expertise in geriatric medicine will be an asset to our community and we feel very fortunate that she and her husband, Dr. Kyle Scheuerman, chose Walkerton and Mildmay to establish their medical practices.

Here’s what Dr. Lorenzen had to say when asked about her decision to establish her medical practice and build a future in our community.

“My name is Ellen Lorenzen, and I am originally from Waterford, Ontario. I completed an Honors Bachelor of Science degree in Human Kinetics at the University of Guelph. I attended medical school at the University of Medicine and Health Sciences in St. Kitts and completed my clinical rotations throughout the United States. I completed my family medicine residency program at the University of Alabama (UA) Family Medicine Residency Program, where I met my husband, Kyle. My passion has always been geriatric medicine and I completed a fellowship and specialty training in geriatrics at UA. I will be practicing out of Mildmay, providing full spectrum family medicine care, as well as consulting in geriatric medicine, hospice and palliative care and home visits. Besides the family connection through my husband Kyle, I have always wanted to practice in a small rural town like the one I grew up in, and Mildmay/Walkerton area is exactly what I had envisioned. I am passionate about bringing high quality care to our older population, especially in underserved rural communities. I’m looking forward to getting to work with and meet the people of Bruce County and to be a part of such a friendly community. Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, camping, spending time with family and friends and our two dogs, Arlo and Birdie. I love all things Peanuts (especially the beagle Snoopy) and have a growing vinyl record collection.” – Dr. Ellen Lorenzen

Please join us in providing a warm welcome to Dr. Lorenzen!
