First look released for major redevelopment at Kincardine hospital
The South Bruce Grey Health Centre and the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation have unveiled the long‑awaited architectural renderings of the redeveloped Kincardine hospital—marking the first time the community has seen what the future facility will look like.
The new Emergency Department, Diagnostic Imaging, and Laboratory spaces will be two and a half times larger than the current footprint. The redevelopment includes a major expansion of Medical Imaging, featuring Bruce County’s first MRI, a transformative addition that will allow patients to receive advanced imaging close to home.
“This is an exciting and historic moment for our community,” said Nancy Shaw, CEO, South Bruce Grey Health Centre. “These new renderings show a modern, welcoming, and purpose‑built hospital designed to meet the growing and changing needs of the patients we serve. The expanded Emergency Department, Medical Imaging, and Laboratory will significantly enhance our ability to deliver high‑quality, timely care—including the addition of an MRI, which will be a game‑changer for local access to diagnostic services.”
The Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation launched an ambitious $18 million campaign in 2022 to fund the local share of the redevelopment. With strong community support, $14 million has already been raised, leaving $4 million still needed to complete the project.
“These renderings reflect not just a building, but a promise—better care, closer to home, for every family in Kincardine, Huron‑Kinloss, and across our region,” said Becky Fair, President, Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation. “We are deeply grateful to every donor who has helped us reach this point. With $4 million left to raise, we invite the community to join us in finishing this once‑in‑a‑generation project.”
The redevelopment of the Kincardine hospital is designed to support current patient volumes while preparing for future growth, ensuring that local residents have access to modern, efficient, and patient‑centred care for decades to come.
